Headteacher's Welcome
It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as the new Headteacher of Llangewydd Junior School. I bring with me eighteen years of experience in education and have always been committed to creating a happy and engaging learning environment that supports the academic, social and emotional growth of all pupils. As the Headteacher, I am committed to building on the excellent work that has already been done, and to continue to provide a well-rounded education that prepares our pupils for success in all aspects of their lives.
Our creative curriculum allows us to ‘bring learning to life’ and is designed to challenge and engage our pupils, offering a wide range of life-long skills. The curriculum we offer is flexible and ensures there are opportunities for pupils to lead their own learning and have an input into what they would like to learn about. We are extremely fortunate to have fantastic grounds and an outdoor classroom here at Llangewydd, which all the children will have the opportunity to use. At our school, we are proud to offer a wide range of academic, sporting, and cultural opportunities that challenge and inspire our pupils to reach their full potential.
We are committed to fostering a strong sense of community within our school. We believe that our pupils learn best when they feel valued, respected and supported. To this end, we encourage our pupils to participate in a variety of extra-curricular activities and clubs which provide further opportunities for all.
At Llangewydd we recognise and value the diversity in all our pupils and realise that every child has different skills and talents. Our staff members strive to create a safe and supportive environment that promotes individualised learning and prepares pupils to become active citizens in our community. In addition to our mainstream classes, we are pleased to offer two resource bases, each base providing an educational setting for pupils with complex needs. The C.A.R.E Base (Sunshine Class) caters for pupils with ASD and social and communication difficulties. Our Learning Resource Base (Rainbow Class) supports pupils with Moderate Learning Difficulties and other complex needs. Our staff in all classes are highly skilled and experienced and they work tirelessly to ensure that every pupil receives the support they need to succeed.
Prior to the school day, we offer a free school breakfast club, where your child will be offered nutritious food to ensure they are ready for the school day ahead. If you require information about this, then please do not hesitate to contact us and we will be happy to provide you with the details you require. We invite you to explore our school prospectus and learn more about our vibrant and welcoming school community.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.
